The SGM airbag module manages the car’s airbag systems. It receives signals from various sensors in the car designed to detect collisions and accidents, and determines whether the airbags should be deployed in the event of a crash.
This module is found in the BMW E60 (5 Series sedan), BMW E61, E63, E64 and more models.
The SGM airbag module also monitors the status of the airbags and checks whether the airbag warning lights on the dashboard are functioning properly. If a malfunction is detected in the airbag system, the module will activate a warning light on the dashboard to alert the driver that there may be a problem with the airbags.
It’s important to have any problems with the SGM airbag module diagnosed immediately, as a faulty airbag module can lead to problems deploying the airbags in an emergency. This can result in reduced protection for the driver and passengers in an accident.
