There are 2 solutions.
The best solution is to replace the emergency battery. The price for this varies per vehicle. In some models, the battery is located under the headliner. Customers have told us that the dealer charges up to €1,000 to carry out this replacement. We are also able to replace this battery professionally, at a lower cost than the dealer.
Another, more affordable solution is to remove the fault code by programming. This will prevent the error from appearing on the dashboard and iDrive screen. However, we recommend using this only as a temporary solution and then resolving the problem permanently. The SOS emergency system is designed to ensure that emergency services can respond quickly in case of an accident.
On request, deactivation / removal by programming is also possible.

What does the SOS emergency call system do?
The system ensures that the emergency dispatch center is contacted after an accident. You can also contact the emergency dispatch center manually by pressing the SOS button. This button is often located next to the FZD (reading lights) in a BMW or Mini. This system is also called the emergency call system.
If the system malfunctions, you’ll receive a message on your dashboard or iDrive screen. The error code is shown next to the CIC system of an E90 BMW. The malfunction can also be identified by error codes B7F341 and B7F343, among others.

How does this malfunction occur?
It’s a very nice system when it works properly. The two most common causes of a malfunction are:
1) Na enkele jaren kan het gebeuren dat de noodbatterij versleten is. Dit kun je herkennen doordat er de melding ‘noodoproep storing’ in je dashboard en op je iDrive verschijnt.
2) Older systems (for example, the TCU of the E60 and E90) operate on 2G. Unfortunately, the 2G network was taken offline a few years ago. This makes it impossible to get this system working.

What our customers say

Last year, the entire steering column was replaced, but after a few months, the same problem arose. No one could solve it, but after a long search online, I found Jan, and after a clear explanation and a potential solution, I regained hope.
Jan remotely—how?—really got my car running again and immediately wrote down all the malfunctions and error messages.
Jan is a hero! It's a shame you can only give 5 stars and not 10, otherwise he would have definitely earned them!
Jan was able to come on-site within two days to scan the Z3, but unfortunately, that wasn't possible because the Z3 has an older system.
Luckily, Jan still had an old laptop with the correct software.
He quickly realized the AWS module was malfunctioning. He gave me tips on how to work around this and adjusted the ECU. And yes, it's running like a charm again.
Excellent, clear communication, good advice.
Simply a true professional.
We need more of them.
He expertly repaired it for me.
Great service.
I was able to get an appointment within two hours and it was fixed within half an hour. Absolutely fantastic.
Highly recommended 👌👌
Once I arrived, Jan already heard me 🥳. He immediately grabbed the laptop to check everything for error codes, after which the software could be installed. Meanwhile, Jan changed my menu to Dutch (it was in English), completely free of charge 👌
After an hour, we were back on the road, and the shifting was so incredibly fast.
Thanks, Jan!
You can recognize the system by the option codes 6AE or 6AF. These option codes may also be called S6AE or S6AF.
If the vehicle is equipped with this system, you will have an SOS button next to the reading lights, as shown in the photo next to this text.
