The development of a car never stands still. A car is a mobile computer. A modern car is equipped with dozens of modules. A module is a computer with a specific task. Examples include the engine computer, the automatic transmission computer, and the climate control system. A software update is the process of updating the software used in these modules. It involves replacing the existing software with an updated version, usually developed by the manufacturer, BMW, or a supplier.
A software update is also called an i-level update. It can take about four hours, depending on how many modules are being updated.
This complete software update is available for BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce.

What’s the use of a software update?
A manufacturer never releases a newer software version without a reason. After all, this costs the manufacturer a lot of time and money.
Software updates can serve several purposes. They can fix bugs or errors in existing software, provide performance improvements, add new features or capabilities, or improve the overall stability and safety of the vehicle. These updates can apply to various systems in the car, such as the infotainment system, navigation system, engine management, safety features, and other electronic components.
It’s also possible that the software of a module in the car has become corrupted. In that case, a complete reprogramming can solve this problem.
Performing software updates can be important to ensure your BMW stays up to date with the latest improvements and to reduce potential security risks.
Sometimes a software update can solve an unsolvable problem.

Updating your car’s software carries minimal risk. If you take the right precautions, these risks are negligible. We’ve flashed hundreds of cars and have never had a fatal crash. For more information, please read our terms and conditions.
The car will be completely reprogrammed to the latest factory software. This means all aftermarket modifications will be overwritten. Chip tuning, for example, will disappear. Original upgrades will be retained if properly implemented. Consider cruise control, for example: if it’s correctly added to the vehicle order, everything will work flawlessly after the update.
If the car has non-original modifications, it’s not always possible to completely reprogram it. It’s also possible to partially reprogram the car, skipping some modules. If you have any questions about this, please let us know via the contact page.

What our customers say

Last year, the entire steering column was replaced, but after a few months, the same problem arose. No one could solve it, but after a long search online, I found Jan, and after a clear explanation and a potential solution, I regained hope.
Jan remotely—how?—really got my car running again and immediately wrote down all the malfunctions and error messages.
Jan is a hero! It's a shame you can only give 5 stars and not 10, otherwise he would have definitely earned them!
Jan was able to come on-site within two days to scan the Z3, but unfortunately, that wasn't possible because the Z3 has an older system.
Luckily, Jan still had an old laptop with the correct software.
He quickly realized the AWS module was malfunctioning. He gave me tips on how to work around this and adjusted the ECU. And yes, it's running like a charm again.
Excellent, clear communication, good advice.
Simply a true professional.
We need more of them.
He expertly repaired it for me.
Great service.
I was able to get an appointment within two hours and it was fixed within half an hour. Absolutely fantastic.
Highly recommended 👌👌
Once I arrived, Jan already heard me 🥳. He immediately grabbed the laptop to check everything for error codes, after which the software could be installed. Meanwhile, Jan changed my menu to Dutch (it was in English), completely free of charge 👌
After an hour, we were back on the road, and the shifting was so incredibly fast.
Thanks, Jan!
